Well the rain has settled in at the moment, which is a pain as I need the chassis/rear end outside to finish putting all the brakes and part in on the side next to the garage wall (small garage makes it a bit more awkward). I've also been giving a lot of thought about the fornt suspension and how to achieve it. On a brighter not I just won an auction on E-Bay for a 2lt ohc cylinder head that has been recondition and had unleaded valve seats put it. I might start porting it before I get the rest of the engine (no on the look out for the rest)... The price £16.51 (&£10 p&P) so I'm quite happy with that - If I get a injection engine (which was the way I'm thinking about) then I should be able to sell the head and make my money back.

Bought new brake cylinders as the current ones looked the worse for wear! Got all the back end reattached and all the braking bits in place, started to put the handbrake all in (going to lower handbrake into tunnel as per my last Exmo) but ti rained (again!) making this job much harder, so given up for now - Pleased at what I have got done anyway :)

Been really busy sorting out the garden and garage (old prefab and the ends holding the roof down are rotten through) however I did manage to get the steering rack all in place and I'ce alomost finished building a new handbrake box (lowering it as per my build tops article). Once I have the handbrake in place I can sort out the cable. Hoping to get down the scrappies this week and get pedals/os hub and a few other bits'n'bobs. I'm also on the lok out for an engine as well now - having fantasies about the Rover v8 etc. but as my budget is limited I think deviating form the basics is going to be too costly. Perhaps I'll get it all done then think about an engine swap if I ever have any spare cash again.

Well had hoped to do more work this weekend, but with familyt meets and gardening nothing got done. Hwoever at least my engine choice is now do.... dddrrrrrruuuummmmm rrrrrrooooollllll if you please..... A 2lt Pinto and 5spd box :) Yes boring, but when I saw an adver for a 2lt Pinto engine in good condition for £25 and found I could get the Engine and 5speed Gearbox delivered for £40 it was too god to turn down. Went alon to have a look and it don't look to bad. Out of a D reg Sierra note caked in oil (alhtough dirty) will all ancileries and everything. The deal was done and within an hour it was sitting outside my house and I got the gearbox cleaned up (Befrore having a bbq and getting drunk!). Still I'm pleased, just need to go down the scrappies now and get a couple of new engine mounts and other odds and sods.

Seem to of got the digital camera working again now so a few more pics :)

Pinto block, not that bad from the outside looks??!!

Modifying the head for better gas flow, thanks to a bit of tuition from Dave Andrews - Won't be the best in the world but will be better than standard. Basiclly I've just removing the horrible steps in the inlet and exhaust paths - actually I'm not even sure if this is a 1.6 or 2lt head at the moment! So once done and cleaned it may be up for sale.
